It’s Story Time

Baseball season is finally here! With its return comes all of the new stats, same stars, and of course, the rookies moving up from minor to major league baseball. The Rockies have recently moved a player up named Trevor Story who has proved to be more than impressive.

Story has been playing in the minors, or AA since 2011. Just last year he was playing for the Albuquerque Isotopes when the Rockies decided to give him a chance and moved him up to their team officially on November 2015 as shortstop.  Trevor Story is only 23 years old, from a town called Irving, Texas. On April 4th, opening day for the Rockies, Story became the first National League player to hit at least two home runs in his first major league game. Talk about impressive. Not a day later, he continued to knock everyone’s socks off, hitting his third home run in his short two game major league career.

This puts him as only the second person to ever hit three home runs in his first two career games since 1900. According to ESPN, Story said after his record-setting debut Monday night: “It is unbelievable. It is something you don’t even dream of or something that I never dreamed of. It is a really, really special moment.” Recently, Trevor Story donated his gloves and helmet from his first career game to the baseball hall of fame. Although Story only has around seven thousand followers on twitter, this number is sure to sky-rocket as he becomes one of the key players of the Rockies.

Story is becoming an overnight sensation as the hash tag “#storytime” has been trending on twitter about this rookie’s performance. Some consider Story to be the next Troy Tulowitzki or “Tulo” for the Rockies. Senior Mark Singleton comments, “Kid’s got talent and more potential than Tulo.” With all of this attention already in the first few games, there’s no question that Story is a player to look out for all season.
