Homecoming Goes Off With A Bang

Fireworks surprise students at the Homecoming halftime show.

Sparks flew during the Homecoming football game.  People in the stands were left speechless by the surprise fireworks show.

‘They were amazing!” says AAHS sophomore Lacey Barkalow, “I was so surprised when they started going off.”  The excited exclamations could be heard from every part of the crowd proving just how much the celebration was enjoyed.

Student council members began planning the celebration three to four months ago when the idea was first proposed by Ms. Shuck.  Fireworks were picked not only as a memorable approach to the halftime show, but because student council wanted to raise school spirit and provide lots of enjoyment.  Funding for the fireworks was built into the budget, so no additional money-raising was needed.

Student council members worked closely with the Air Force Academy and the Air Force Academy events group to find someone capable of managing the fireworks.  They chose Western Enterprises, Incorporated. Western Enterprises is a fireworks company that provides many events with bright and colorful  shows of fireworks, and the half time show was no exception.

With thanks to student council and Western enterprises, Incorporated, we can say that spirit week ended with a bang.
