The students have their heads buried in intense concentration. They are working tirelessly to take home the win, spending hours and hours fighting their way to completion of video games. It is no easy task to complete a video game, especially ones that are said to be difficult and ones that give players nothing but torture and trouble.

From retro arcade classics to modern-day trends, video games can be played anywhere. They have become incredibly popular over the years among younger and older generations ever since 1958. It all started with a sports game called Tennis for Two. Ever since then, video games have entertained people for many years.

Whether or not a player is new or an OG (original gamer), competitive platformer titles, open-world RPGs, male or female gamers, the video game community has become popular among hundreds of people over the years.

Playing video games at Air Academy would be a great idea. It helps most people relax after a long day. Additionally, the hype for upcoming games is real. According to the latest Nintendo Direct, Metroid Dread is expected to be released next month alongside a newer model of the Nintendo Switch.

Next, it is time to talk about the opinions of kids who play games at home, school, or both. They have talked about the games that they enjoy playing the most.

“I enjoy playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Skyrim, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” senior teacher assistant Skyler Mckenzie said. “They are not developed by the same companies. Animal Crossing and Smash Bros Ultimate are developed by Nintendo. I play them for one hour a week. I prefer handheld gaming. The idea of starting or joining a video game club sounds fun.”

However, not all dedicated gamers are in full support of a gaming club. Some gamers are actually against the idea.

“I enjoy playing Apex, Overwatch, and Genshin Impact,” senior teacher assistant Levi Heeney stated. “Genshin Impact is developed by miHoYo, Overwatch is developed by Blizzard Entertainment, and Apex is developed by Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment. I play those games for an hour and a half. I am a fan of home consoles and PC gaming. The idea of starting and/or joining a video game club does not sound that interesting to me.”

There are many other games for the Nintendo Switch that are going to be released for the rest of 2021 and well into 2022. Games like Splatoon 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope are being confirmed for a 2022 release.

Some Nintendo fans are really excited about the release of these video games, while others are perfectly fine with the games they have and do not want to buy the upcoming ones.

Playing video games at Air Academy can be a fun and relaxing activity to do during a student’s free time. Video games will continue to increase in popularity as time progresses.
