How to Have a Fun Staycation
With spring break around the corner you will start hearing all about the amazing vacations and places that all your friends are going on, meanwhile, you are staying at home with absolutely no plans. However, staying home during spring break doesn’t mean you can’t have just as much fun as everyone going across the country.
Scrolling through the flood of photos on instagram of everyone on planes about to head out for the week on a tropical vacation really won’t help you feel any better about staying home. If anything, it will make you more jealous than you already are. Even though all your friends traveling will have an excellent time on their vacations, don’t waste your break just thinking about that. Take advantage of your time at home and do something adventurous.
“I am staying home for spring break this year, and at first I was pretty upset. The more I thought about it though, I realized there are so many places I haven’t been to in Colorado and need to take advantage of being home,” freshman at AAHS Kate Pearne says.
It is possible to have the best spring break you’ve ever had just by staying home. Colorado is the perfect place to go on new adventures and explore. Try new things and go to new places during break and forget about everyone else’s vacation.
Another benefit about being home for spring break is just being home. Relaxing at your home with family and friends is one of the best things to do. You don’t need to do things non-stop to have a happy break. Use this time to rest and recover from the past couple of months. You get to de-stress, sleep in, and watch all the Netflix you want.
Something we take for granted living in Colorado is all the amazing mountains, trails, and hikes provided. Use your break to try out stunning hikes, such as Seven Falls or the Incline. This is something you can do with friends and family and take cool pictures!
Something else you can do is drive up to Denver and go shopping at Park Meadows with friends. This is a great way to get out of the Springs and go somewhere new without having to drive too far. While you are up in Denver, a really fun idea is to go to the aquarium. This is not super expensive and something really fun you can do with your family and friends.
You don’t need to get on a plane and fly some place far away to have the best spring break. Colorado is amazing because of the mountains. Get in the car and drive for 2 hours and spend the day up in the mountains. This is a great way to go somewhere different them home, but not have to drive for hours. The mountains are great because you get to be around new surroundings and do new adventures. Go skiing with friends, go on beautiful hikes, and try new places.
Try out new food places that you’ve been wanting to, but just haven’t had the time. Spring break at home allows us to catch up on everything we’ve missed and do things that we have been wanting to try. Some places to try out include Amy’s Donuts. Make sure you come hungry and are looking for something sweet because they have the best combinations.
Overall, if you are worried about break coming up because everyone is leaving for amazing vacations, you don’t have to be worried anymore. Spring break is the perfect time to relax and enjoy time off from our busy lives. Don’t waste your break, and try new things and adventures. Just remember to rest and sleep as much as you can before it is over!
