A Tribute to Denver Wolf
The Colorado Springs community mourns the tragic loss of our own Denver Wolf: a bright, talented, Air Academy Junior who was killed as a victim of domestic violence on Sunday, March 27th. She is survived by her mother, many close friends, and a community of people who can’t fathom the extent of the loss of such an incredible girl, leaving a legacy that has touched the hearts of our high school and beyond.
Denver’s role in the Air Academy community is irreplaceable. She is the president of National Art Honor Society, a leader among her peers, a talented student, and a participant in the school musical. The list of people Denver impacted goes on, and the loss has hit our community hard.
A bright future was in front of Denver. Although she was a junior, she planned on graduating early in order to study in Italy for a year. Moreover, Denver’s artistic talent is the best of Air Academy. She spoke of her future confidently and was full of bold potential. Her creativity shines through everything she accomplished, and the Kadet family will make sure that Denver’s legacy lives on.
Many students have known Denver for their whole lives and describe their loss as missing one of the brightest people they’ve known. Denver is a family member to so many people in so many ways. She left behind close friends, and there’s no way to put words to the extent of their loss. People who had Denver in class, people who knew her in passing, people who knew her from art – we’re all grappling with the loss of such a unique, free-spirited, vibrant, and beautiful soul. With heads reeling, the Kadet family is currently working to honor her life with respect and dignity.
Our hearts go out to those closest to Denver. On behalf of Air Academy High School, we will rally around those so closely impacted and offer community and support as much as possible. In the difficult times ahead, we will remember Denver Wolf’s life and legacy as we come together as a family to grieve the loss of this irreplaceable individual.
A Celebration of Denver’s Life will be held Sunday, April 3rd from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at The Cottonwood Center for the Arts.

I was honored to teach Denver this year; our class will not ever be the same without her. This article has captured her beautiful spirit, as well as, the AAHS community’s sorrow. I am proud that our students and staff have rallied together to help each other grieve during this tragic time while also trying to move forward with recognizing and honoring Denver’s legacy. As mentioned at Denver’s Celebration of Life this afternoon, “I choose to be happy”…happy that I knew such an amazing person, happy that I am still surrounded by amazing people everyday and hopeful that those I teach will continue to go out into the world to become amazing people. I am truly blessed to be a part of the Kadet family.
