Editor’s Statement

Record keeping may be the most undervalued asset to any civilization, society, or group. The capability of looking back and reflecting on mistakes, and successes, is vital for an organization that is dedicated to progression. At Air Academy High School, our motto should really be, “We’re even better than last year.”  Administration, Student Council, and clubs all need feedback on events and daily life at AAHS; it is because of this that we justify our need to critique events at AAHS. After a meeting with the school principal, Toria McGill, she and I agreed on the line of appropriate versus inappropriate criticism. Should that line ever be crossed, I accept full responsibility and can retract articles. If the Jetstream Journal points out a flaw in the daily life at Air Academy, such as how there is a lack of morale during spirit week, Student Council can properly address that issue. If Jetstream Journalists discover that students are wasting Academy or don’t have enough time to get off of base and back on for lunch, administration may consider modifying the current schedule.

This voice of the student body is not only to serve as a check and balance for the leadership of the school, but also to allow their decisions to have explanation: “Why did we change the schedule?” or “Will mandatory interventions really work?” The administration of Air Academy High School is more than willing to answer all of these questions for us. In previous years of AAHS school newspapers, there has been the theme of trying to “uncover” all of the “many scandals” our school has, like “HOW CLEAN IS THE WATER YOU’RE DRINKING?” or “Is there an embezzler in Student Council??”  We are not yellow journalists, and we are mature in our stories. Our purpose is to entertain and inform.

We have an amazing team of reporters, editors, and photographers working harmoniously to produce an online newspaper that the average Kadet and AAHS faculty member would enjoy reading.
