There’s only a little over 2 weeks of school left (for the kiddos who aren’t seniors), which means summer is almost here! With the upcoming months comes soaring temperatures, sunkissed skin, and careless behavior. So why not go all natural, give your hair a break and go heat free. Start giving your hair and skin conditioning treatments, and all natural remedies to help heal and repair your hair and skin. I know that the idea of going 100% makeup free for the whole summer is completely unrealistic, so I have a few products and looks that’ll still give your skin a break, and look extremely natural!

Lets start with our hair. After months of blowing it out, straightening, and curling your hair, it’s gotten weak, broken, stringy and dull. Don’t worry there’s a solution to all of these problems.

  • Hair Cut: Kick of the summer with smooth, clean ends. All of the heat has left your hair split and dry so a quick trim will help keep your hair soft, and contain the frizz (a battle I face everyday).
  • Overnight Split end remedy:

Coconut overnight split end treatment

~1Tbsp of coconut oil

~1Tsp of vitamin e oil.

Mix the two oils together, and microwave for 30 seconds. Then just apply liberally to your ends, and braid your hair to really lock in the moisture. Sleep tight and wash your hair in the morning.

Honey overnight split end treatment.

~1Tbsp of Honey

~1Tbsp of Olive oil.

Warm the oil and honey and coat your ends with your mixture then cover with plastic wrap to create a moisture chamber for your ends!

  • Ultimate Hair treatment:

~1 egg (contains high protein, and intense moisture)

~1 avocado ( these oils will leave your hair shiny, and strong)

~3 Tbsp Olive oil (shine and strength)

~1 Tbsp of honey (a split end sealer)

Blend all of the ingredients together until you have a smooth paste. Start with the ends and work your way up, massaging the product in your hair. Let this sit for about 15 minutes and then wash it out.

  • Oil: This is a pretty simple, but effective task. Rubbing a little oil in your hair(concentrate on the ends) adds not only strength, but also highly hydrating moisture. It also helps control frizz. After you get out of the shower, apply some oil starting from ends and work up to your ears, then french braid and go to bed. Overnight as your hair dries, you will develop a beautiful, heatless wavy hairdo.

Not only is summer the time to repair your hair it’s also the time to repair your skin! Try going makeup free for a few days a week and watch your skin become softer and clearer! Vitamin D is a great way to clear up acne so go for a hike and soak up the sun! There’s also a lot you can do to help repair your skin, like masks and scrubs.

  • Acne clearing face mask: repairs damaged skin, fights acne bacteria, lightens scars and blemishes.

~1 egg white

~1 Tsp of fresh lemon juice

~½ tsp of honey

Mix everything together really well, and wash your face with warm water to open your pores. Apply the mixture on your face and let it dry. I recommend 10-15 minutes before you wash it off. Be careful, because if you leave this mask on too long it can dry out your skin.

  • Exfoliator: Buffs away dead skin, and brightens your face.

~One tomato with stem

~Sugar

Cut the top of the tomato, and make sure it has a stem so you can hold on to it. Dip the top in sugar and start rubbing it against your skin in circular motions.

  • Hydrating mask: Repairs damaged  skin, and kicks you with intense moisture for soft, supple skin.

~½ Avocado

~1 Tbsp of olive oil

~½ Tbsp of honey

Mash the avocado until its a smooth paste, then add olive oil and honey. Mix everything up until it’s a nice consistency and apply to face and neck. Let the mask sit for 15 minutes then wash it off with warm water.

Now that we’ve taken care of your skin, here’s a few makeup brands that not only make you look beautiful, but also help your skin. Here’s what I found:

~Dr. Jart+ BB cream, though it’s expensive at $36 it helps fight dark spots, and keeps your skin clear. You can substitute it with other BB creams just make sure you read the ingredients.

~Bare Escentuals: The best makeup ever. It covers everything, but doesn’t look cakey and feels amazing on your skin. Prices vary for what you buy.

~Neutrogena healthy skin foundation: Affordable and beautiful.

Keep in mind when you’re buying foundation SPF is a must and vitamin C is a plus!

That’s it for this article, and for the last time ever,

Stay Classy,
