Valentine’s Day: Bitter or Sweet?

Valentine’s Day is a matter of “win or lose” in the eyes of students at Air Academy. For couples and Kadets who have been falling head over heels, it is a time to recognize their significant other. Kahaili Timmsen says if she had to describe Valentine’s Day in one word, it would be “appreciation.” She says that the holiday would be the best yet if she got flowers and a letter from her boyfriend, Brendan Boyle. “Well, Brendan and I always do special things to make each other feel special. It is really hard to say. I am a real sucker for simplicity and flowers.” Rebecca Mace says she plans to go on a cute movie date with her guy, Tanner Saporito, and that “there is not really any place I’d rather be than with him. As long as we are together, it doesn’t really matter what we do.” Obviously, Valentine’s Day is completely centered around infatuation, couples, and love.

Unimpressed by this day, Mikaela Peninger says that it’s hard for single people because they have to just sit back and watch everyone receive gifts. However, Sara Sparks is not at all bitter on Valentine’s Day, but rather happy for those that are lucky enough to have someone to share the day with. She says, “I love love and I think it’s a beautiful thing. It’s sweet to see girls get flowers and teddy bears.” Matthew Pipan, on the other hand, takes a more humorous view on Valentine’s Day. “It’s Valentine’s Day already? I forgot to get myself a girlfriend again.” Some Kadets even spend Valentine’s Day with their friends and buy their closest ones cute, little gifts. Therefore, single students can still have a blast! So, regardless of your relationship status, your Valentine’s Day should have been the greatest yet. Remember, only you have the ability to decide whether or not your Valentine’s Day will be bitter or sweet.
