It’s TIME!

Every 20 years, the students of Air Academy put together a time capsule. This year is Air Academy’s 60th anniversary, which means that not only do we get to open the one from 1998, but we also get to put a new one together for the 100th anniversary in 2058.

This is a super exciting event for the students of Air Academy and the Legacy Association. The hard part now is deciding what to encase in this new time capsule. What items truly encapsulate (pun intended) 2018? I’ve heard my fellow classmates, and there have been some very interesting suggestions! Luckily, it is not just up to the students to decide what goes in it. You, the readers of The Jetstream Journal, can input your ideas as well.

Just a friendly reminder that whatever goes in this time capsule will be how future generations will view our school and will be a symbol of this decade. If you are interested in viewing the historic event, we will open the 1998 time capsule on April 27th after school, and our student council will host a tailgate party.  Assistant Principal Robin Koldenhoven said that there were likely to be reporters there to view the event and that Nunn Construction will uncover the time capsule and burying the new one. The owner of Nunn Construction graduated from Air Academy and will give their time to us for free.

The old time capsule is buried outside of D building under a tree, and the new time capsule will be buried in the courtyard and the empty square (pictured below) will be turned into one of the colorful blocks to sit on. To ensure that no one forgets about the time capsule, a plaque will be placed on the top.
