Air Academy’s Colorado Countryside Prom took place last Saturday, April 9th.  Girls and Guys alike planned their stunning dresses and dashing suits for weeks before, and all of the time and energy that went into this once in a lifetime event paid off.  From simple and understated to patterns and sparkles, the styles of Prom 2016 were looks to remember.

This year, many girls opted for solid colored dresses with symmetrical designs.   The most noticeable trend, however, was the two piece dress.  Maddie May and Ali Law agreed that people were, “Rockin the two piece dresses.”  The two piece design, made popular by dress companies like Sherri Hill, was a unique trend which makes 2016’s Prom style stand out.

Another Prom trend proved “less is more” to be elegant and relevant.  Kennedy Jamieson commented on the hair trend saying, “Hair was simple and elegant this year.”  Girls looked put together and gorgeous without bothering with poofy dresses and bedazzled updo’s.

Audrey Levens noticed that “There were a lot of black dresses, which is good because black is my favorite color.”  The overall look was understated yet sophisticated.

Guys had their own styles unique to this year’s prom.  Ben Jones commented on what was popular among guy’s Prom fashion this year, saying that, “There were a lot of bow ties and colorful vests.” The look was simple and sophisticated, complimenting the similar trend among the ladies.

Prom 2016 was a success and turned out to be a night to remember.  Who knows what next year’s trends will be, but if two piece dresses are still popular, future prom attendees will have a large variety of gowns to borrow from.
