Scene & Heard
Just in time for sweater weather, The Neighbourhood released their second full album October 30th ,Wiped Out!. About two years since their last album, they start out with a unique 30 seconds of silence, and when I say silence that’s all it is. At first, I turned my volume all the way up and was confused, but I guess “A Moment of Silence” is suppose to be really taken to heart, since nothing ever was heard. I find that interesting, maybe it’s your own intro to the album, using your thoughts to create an individual beginning song to to the album, or for some just 30 seconds for them to skip.
Most recognized for their song, “Sweater Weather”, their single, “R.I.P. to My Youth”, is just as lyrically intriguing, and definitely will be up in the charts. The album as a whole is a little slower than I Love You.(their previous album), however it seems much more mature. The lyrics I think have increased thought, having more meaning, and room for interpretation.
“Greeting from Califournia”, agrees more with the last album. In addition, California is obviously one of their main themes of the album, as they originated from California. Sounds of the ocean occur in several songs, and aids with the instrumental backgrounds, tying it all together
I 100% recommend seeing The Neighbourhood at a show, as I consider them the first concert I’ve been to (let’s just say Brad Paisley isn’t my type). They may not be as energetic as other bands, but the atmosphere they create is entrancing, and surely worth it.
