Athlete of the Month

 

Male:

Luc Hagen is our male athlete of the month. The senior cross country runner has had a fantastic season. Up to this point in the year, Luc is having the best season any male cross country runner has ever had in Air Academy’s running history. On October 2nd, Luc ran in the Desert Twilight meet in Arizona. In this unique race that takes place under the stars of the desert, Luc made Kadet history. He broke Ian Burrell’s school record time of 15:19.8 by 3.2 seconds, and registered a time of 15:16.2. As the season continues, Luc will keep running and training for the 4A state championship race that will take place October 31st at the Norris-Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. “I’m having a great time running with all of my friends, and I’m really enjoying my senior season,” said Luc.

Female:

            Megan Horn is our female athlete of the month. The senior softball player has been producing from the plate, as well as the pitcher’s circle all year. Megan leads the Kadets in wins, and has an 11-2 record while pitching. She has also saved one game. Megan holds an impressive ERA of 1.98. Horn is also one of the top batters on the team, with a .400 batting average, and 3 home runs this year. After the team’s win against Kennedy, they headed to the state playoffs, where they fell just short last year. “Last year after we lost in the tournament, we promised to ourselves that we would make it back. It feels so good to be back, and we want to make the most of it,” said Megan.
