As this year’s NFL season heats up, the fans of the league have once again been whipped into a frenzy, eager to see how their favorite team will do. Here are the preseason previews of each AFC team:

Denver Broncos:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 12-5 / lost in divisional round of playoffs to Colts

Head Coach: Gary Kubiak

Preview: The Denver Broncos are coming off of a solid year, and had a good preseason performance. Denver is the early favorite to win the AFC West once again, and have set their eyes on the Lombardi trophy. Critics are worried about Peyton Manning’s arm strength, so be prepared to watch a more balanced offense with a stronger run game.

San Diego Chargers:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 9-7 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Mike McCoy

Preview: After not making the playoffs a year ago, the Chargers have their eyes set on returning to the top of the AFC West and a spot in the playoffs. Led by quarterback Phillip Rivers, San Diego’s offense will once again produce points, and the defense will make or break the team.

Kansas City Chiefs:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 9-7 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Andy Reid

Preview: The Chiefs have all the components of a playoff team; good coaching, good players, and great fans. Last season, the Kansas City fans generated 142.2 decibels of sound at one point, which was a new world record. If all of the pieces come together, look for the Chiefs to be a threat for the division title, and a run in the playoffs.

Oakland Raiders:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 3-13 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Jack Del Rio

Preview: After last year’s dismal season, Oakland will look to bring back the tradition of excellence inside the Raider’s program. With a new coach at the helm, the defense should take a big step up. Quarterback Derek Carr is entering his second year, and should have better control over the offense and the game as a whole. Look for the Raiders to improve their record this year.

Cincinnati Bengals:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 10-6-1 / lost to Colts in Wild Card round of playoffs

Head Coach: Marvin Lewis

Preview: After finishing second in their division and losing in their first playoff game last season, the Bengals will once again look to make playoffs. The AFC North has been one of the most competitive divisions in football lately, so their schedule will be tough. Nevertheless, there is no reason to believe that the Bengals can’t find success again.

Pittsburgh Steelers:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 11-6 / lost in Wild Card round of playoffs to Ravens

Head Coach: Mike Tomlin

Preview: After winning the AFC North last year, the Steelers will set their sights on repeating. However, these Steelers will look to make it past the first round of playoffs. After losing legendary defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau, it may be difficult for the prominent defense to stay dominant.

Baltimore Ravens:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 11-7 / lost in Divisional round of playoffs to Patriots

Head Coach: John Harbaugh

Preview: The Ravens finished third in their division, but were the only team from the AFC North to win a playoff game last year. Like the Steelers and Bengals, the Ravens will look to win the division and make a run in the playoffs.

Cleveland Browns:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 7-9 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Mike Pettine

Preview: After a sub-par year in 2014, the Browns will hope to improve, but it will be tough to make playoffs due to the difficult nature of the AFC North. There has been a battle for the starting QB position over the offseason between Johnny Manziel and Josh McCown, which can affect the unity of the team.

New England Patriots:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 15-4 / Super Bowl Champions

Head Coach: Bill Belichick

Preview: After reaching the pinnacle of the sport last season, the Patriots have their eyes set on repeating. With Tom Brady’s suspension cleared and almost all of the starters returning, there is no reason the Patriots can’t win the division and work towards another world title.

Miami Dolphins:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 8-8 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Joe Philbin

Preview: The dolphins just missed the playoffs last year, but should have improved by this season. Led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins have plenty of offensive weapons such as Jarvis Landry. In a competitive AFC East, it may be tough for the Dolphins to compete, but their goal should ultimately be to compete for playoffs.

New York Jets:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 4-12 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Todd Bowles

Preview: After last year’s struggles, there may be more of the same for the Jets. With a new coach and quarterback Geno Smith out with a broken jaw, it may be hard for the Jets to find any traction in the tough AFC East division.

Buffalo Bills:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 9-7 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Rex Ryan

Preview: Under new leadership and a renewed interest from fans after almost losing their team to Toronto, the Bills are setting their goals high going into this season. The defense is proposed to be one of the best in the league with Rex Ryan in control, and the offense should churn out enough points for the team to be successful.

Tennessee Titans:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 2-14 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Ken Wisenhunt

Preview: Last year’s record was bad enough to earn the Titans the second overall pick in the NFL Draft, and the Titans picked quarterback Marcus Mariota. The team is hoping that Mariota can help turn the team around, and help the team improve from last year, although the playoffs are still a long shot.

Jacksonville Jaguars:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 3-13 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Gus Bradley

Preview: Although the last few seasons have been rough for the Jaguars, the team is on the upswing. Quarterback Blake Bortles is entering his second year, and should increase production in order to help the team to a few more wins. With the Texans and the Colts in the division, it will be tough for the Jaguars to make the playoffs.

Houston Texans:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 9-7 / did not qualify for playoffs

Head Coach: Bill O’Brien

Preview: The Texans just barely missed out on the playoffs, and are looking to make the push it will take to make the playoffs this year. The defense, led by J.J. Watt, should be one of the better ones in the league, and the offense should be slightly improved as quarterback Ryan Mallet gains experience.

Indianapolis Colts:

2014-2015 Record/Season Result: 13-6 / lost in AFC Championship to Patriots

Head Coach: Chuck Pagano

Preview: The Colts had an unexpected push in the playoffs before losing to the eventual champions, and are looking to make a similar push this year. Quarter back Andrew Luck is widely regarded as one of the best in the league, and he looks to lead the high-powered offense once again. There is no reason the Colts can’t match the success they had last year.
