The Kadets have seen several state titles over the course of the 2014-2015 year and Kadet pride grows as individuals and teams represent our school. Boys soccer, band, boys basketball, Matt Barad, Katie Rainsberger, Jack Dangermond and Noah Green are all state champions in their respective activities. Dedication and hours of practice have been invested in order to reach this level in each discipline.

The year started off with boys soccer absolutely destroying the competition and ending their season with a perfect 20-0 record. Captain,  Austin Dewing led the team in points and plans to continue his passion for soccer at the Air Force Academy.  Also during the fall, Air Academy’s marching band won their fifth consecutive marching band state championship. Then, over the winter, boys basketball became the Cinderella story of the year as the underdogs emerged victorious. Several players, including, Austin Dewing, David Louthan, James Sims, Mark Beatty, and Henry Yocum, were even a part of the state champion soccer team as well. However, the Kadets weren’t done yet, Matthew Barad, Jack Dangermond, Noah Green, and Katie Rainsberger all won an individual state titles. Matthew Barad won the United States Ex-temp category in CHSAA’s speech and debate tournament; his win was the first for Air Academy since 2009. Another individual State Champ in Cross Country is Katie Rainsberger, who, with the help of her teammates, looks to run well at the state track and field championships May 14th-16th. Then, in the spring, partners Jack Dangremond and Noah Green won DECA State in Hotel Lodging and Management. Jack Dangremond continued onto Nationals in Florida where he scored the highest score on the written test.

As the year comes to an end, the graduating class of 2015 can successfully say they have witnessed (6 as of now) state championship titles go to Air Academy. The Kadet family swells with pride every time one of our own shines on a state level and this has been a year to remember. Have a fantastic summer Kadets!
