With Spring Break just 4 days away, it might be too late to get that perfectly toned bikini body you desire, but don’t stress out just yet, it isn’t too late to find a bathing suit that flatters you and shows off all of your assets. After reading an article from Lucille Roberts the Women’s Gym, there is a perfect way to know what swim suit to buy. First identify your shape. There are 4 different body types, one being the apple, which is when your waist is much wider than your hips, but almost the same size as your bust. The pear shape, which is when you got big buns, and your hips are wider than your waist, and bust. The hourglass, if your bust and hips are the same width, with a smaller waist. Lastly, the rectangle shape, generally this goes with very thin women, with little to no difference between the size of your hips, bust, and waist. Despite your shape, there are parts of ourselves we like to show off and flaunt or conceal and hide. Here is the guide to display, or disguise, your attributes.

Waist:

If you have a flat tummy that you want to show off, grab a bikini! If you don’t like bikinis, no need to fear, their cousin tankini is just as good. A tankini will pull the attention to the tiny strip of exposed skin, and draw the attention away from your thighs. If your waist is something that makes you self conscious there are a few options to hide it. Grab a one-piece, or if you have more flair, try high waisted bottoms. Keep in mind, darker colors have a slimming effect.

Hips and Legs:

If you have rocking legs, or you want them to appear wider, grab a pair of boy shorts. Boy shorts are a cheat for a fake hourglass look, especially if you already have the big bust. If not, our trusty friend the push up bikini is there to help. To also give the illusion of longer legs, a high cut short is the ideal choice. This is perfect for ladies with a longer torso, or shorter legs. Prints, designs, and ruffles will all draw attention too, so keep that in mind. If you don’t want to show off your legs, a subtle way of concealing them is a swim skirt.

Bust:

If you want to flaunt your bust, a halter and triangle tops draw attention. A tie front top also gives the appearance of larger breast. If you don’t have a lot to work with up there, try a push-up top! For my pear shape ladies who have wide hips, but crave an hourglass figure, reach for a bandeau top to make your bust look wider and give the illusion of a smaller waist. If your breast are something you don’t want attention drawn to, try something with thicker straps and a straight cut. I found if support is an issue, go for something with underwire.

Remember everyone’s body is different, so dont be afraid to mix and match different pieces and different styles. Most importantly, don’t forget to love your body! From apple to rectangle they’re all beautiful. I hope these tips help you find the perfect swimsuit!

Stay classy,
