How To: Colorado Weather

Living in sunny Colorado is no easy task. With the weather constantly changing, it’s important to know how to dress for our bipolar climate. Waking up to a snowstorm and then baking in 70 degrees by noon makes Colorado dress code a very confusing topic. Here are a few of the go-to apparel I always keep at hand.

Small Jacket:

If you know it’s going to be sunny, but are worried about the sun flip flopping and becoming gloomsville, bring a light jacket. They are easy to carry and don’t take up room in your car. Let me tell you, even if the sun doesn’t begin to hide, restaurants, movie theaters, and practically every indoor place is air conditioned so it will get chilly!

socksSocks:

I know this seems like a small, petty thing to carry around, but socks come in very handy in the winter. I always keep my sneakers, boots, and socks in my car so I’m ready for anything Colorado has to throw at me. Especially when we get our famous April snowstorms, you’re going to want something to keep your toes warm!

Sunscreen:

Colorado has more sunshine year round, than any other state, and being that we are more elevated than the others, it is important that we protect our skin. I always carry a small bottle of moisturizer with SPF 15.

This goes vise versa, we have all trusted the weather man too much when he says it going to be sunny all day, or chilly till midnight. We dress to the best of the weather predictions and the exact opposite happens. So here I am, a sweater, boots, a down jacket and its 75 degrees. Sweating through your two layers is not flattering, trust me.

I don’t care if it’s the middle of winter, or end of summer, you wear your sunglasses! Colorado’s sun is blinding. The UV rays destroy your eyes, and can be very easily avoided just by wearing some shades.

My biggest tip though, is to just dress in layers. That way if it gets warmer you can shed a few! I’m sure all of you know what you should keep at hand, but those are a few of my go to’s in my car closet. And yes, my car is a mess, but I have everything I need in it if I were to get  stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Stay Classy,
