Summer Bod Workouts

As we are the laziest generation so far, we take pride in sleeping till noon and eating every processed food we come in contact with. But, ladies and gents, with summer right around the corner, you might want to put down that Chipotle burrito and pick up a free weight. If you aren’t doing a spring sport, it can be EXTREMELY difficult to force yourself to workout. I want to tell you that there are a few workouts that make getting fit, fun.

Get that perfect booty:

For my ladies that want that perfect butt and cellulite-free legs, look no further; I have just the solution. Grab 2 dumbbells between 3-5 lbs, with a weight in each hand stand hip width apart, and lunge back with your right leg. Make sure both of your legs are at a 90 degree angle. Extend your arms in front of you to shoulder level.This exercise targets your shoulders, back, abs, butt, and hamstrings. I love lunges, because you can do them anywhere and they tone, and burn fast!

Another booty favorite, and my personal favorite, is squats! To make it a little more difficult, jump and land in a squat. You can even use a low weight medicine ball! This workout targets your butt, thighs, and abs.

Nothing is more appealing than a nicely-toned stomach. So for my boys and girls that want a fast, effective workout, here’s one that I found works best for me. Let me start off with: there are 4 sets and very little rest. Begin with 15 normal crunches, then roll onto your side and do 15 more, roll to the other side and 15 again. After that put your feet in the air and make a 90 degree angle with your legs, with your head elevated in the crunch position. As you bring your head back down extend your legs straight forward, so they’re parallel with the floor; do NOT touch your feet to the floor. When you come up again, bring your legs back into the 90 degree angle. Do 15 of those; think of it as an extended crunch that utilizes your whole body. Then, 30 scissor kicks: put your hands under your butt, and have your chest slightly elevated so you’re not resting. Following that, do 30 criss-cross kicks and end the set with your legs in butterfly position and 15 crunches. Now you only have three sets left! Remember, little rest – shoot for 15 seconds! If you find that you aren’t getting a good workout, adjust it to your liking and add more reps. I usually do 20-25 depending on how much cardio I do before.

Burn Fat Fast Cardio:

For the people that are looking to just burn fat now, and tone later, cardio is where you should be looking. Especially since we are so young, we burn fat and can lose weight so much faster than our parents. Running is effective, because it engages so many muscles. You want to get your heart rate up! If you hate the boring running routine, try dancing! I took Hip-Hop for a few years and it was an AMAZING workout. There’s also Zumba, and I know a lot of guys won’t be up for that, but let me tell you when I say, it works! You are sweating so much, and having so much fun you don’t even realize you’re working out.

Those are a few of my little routines I use to get that summer bikini body. A few tips: try to always do a little cardio! If you do at least 30 minutes a day, you will definitely notice a difference. Bring a buddy! I love going to the gym with friends, because it motivates me to work hard. My best tip for you is don’t go to the gym without music. If I am listening to a song with a great beat, I don’t focus on my heavy breathing or how tired I am. That’s it lovelies. I hope you guys like these and give them a try.
