7 Careers in High Demand
In our rapidly progressing, constantly changing world, the job market can fluctuate very frequently. As a matter of fact, the unemployment rate in the United States, as of January of this year, remains at about seven percent. Most of America is aware of our fairly unstable economy, which is, presumably, the root of a large percent of the unemployment in our country. However, according to Moran Zahng of the International Business Times, “A few more people are becoming confident about the economy and have started to job hunt again.”
With more people on the hunt for jobs, the real question becomes: “Which field should I enter?” or “What career should I pursue?” Because of our invariably changing world, the job economy fluctuates almost unpredictably. Therefore, jobs in high demand may only remain at the top for a short while until something better or more important comes along.
Because the technology industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, more and more jobs involving computer software are opening up and waiting for takers. U.S. News informs us that some jobs in this field include 1) web developers, 2) computer system analysts, and 3) computer application software engineers.
U.S. News claims that jobs that require a master’s degree will rise 21.7 percent in the next few years. “Openings for educated healthcare practitioners as well as qualified IT professionals should increase by 25.9 percent. Of the top ten professions listed on U.S. News’ list of Best Jobs of 2012, nine require at least an associate’s degree.” Based on these facts, it can be concluded that an impressive education is essential for our future.
This may sound like a given; however, the future of our world depends on Millennials (teenagers of our day). Due to the growing influence of technology, I firmly believe that we, as Millennials, are more inclined to lean toward the technological, innovative aspect of our nation as opposed to the, per say, outdated ways of our fathers.
Pets are more common than ever before, resulting in a projected high rise in 4) veterinarian job openings. By 2020, the need for vets is expected to rise 36 percent. Also for 2020, predictions state that 5) environmental and conservation scientists will be in high demand. With rapid rise in global population, people are searching for more effective ways of producing food and distributing it.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 6) biomedical engineer careers are growing at rate of 27%, which is much faster than average. Biomedical engineers basically analyze and propose solutions in “biology and medicine, with the goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of patient care.” Again, with the engineering field, 7) petroleum engineers are digging into a new era of career demands. These engineers develop ways to remove and collect gas and oil from below the Earth’s surface. Because of the rising demand in gas and oil, the result will be a much greater need for engineers as well as workers in the field.
As I mentioned previously, our world is in the midst of a constant cycle of development and advancement, meaning that at the rate we are going, we, as a global people, will never come to a standstill in change and simple reformation. As unfathomable as it may seem, we will most likely never refuse our forward progression. Innovation is inevitable, making our future unpredictable and uncertain.
Disclaimer: There is no definite way to determine the most high demand careers in the USA. I only interpret my information from sources that are “qualified” to make these conjectures.
