As the door on 2013 comes to a close, we say goodbye to multiple funky favorites, but we also open a new door on the 2014 fashion trends. Our friends over at fashionbeans.com supplied what’s new, what’s hot, and what’s a returning favorite. A few of their best-loved items are the color blue, stripes, creamy neutrals, and block checks.

Blue:

Well hello 80’s! Blue has always been a favorite to the daring and the people who aren’t afraid to take a fashion leap. Use a dull navy and monochrome for the winter and colder months. Calvin Klein, Kenzo, and Versace are all famous designers that have taken a liking to this past, bold color. Be careful though, you don’t want to over do the blue.

Stripes:

“The best time to wear a striped sweater, is all the time.”  Though people generally gravitate towards stripes in the winter, “these contrasting directions  and up-side down geometry means you can channel a trend that’s seen more reinventions than a Miley Cryus Youtube search.” (fashionbeans) Don’t be afraid to rock those stripes every season because they always remain timeless.

Creamy Neutrals:

The 1970’s inspired neutrals had all been assimilated in Nicole Farhi, Meadham Kirchoff, and Richard James SS14 collections. Neutrals are endless possibilities, and combinations are just waiting to be manipulated and transformed. You can go vintage and pick some chunky sweater with a camel roll neck and slim jeans, or go new and bold, with a sharp cream blazer. Use a nude belt to make your blue jeans pop. One of my favorites? Khakis!

Block checks:

Block checks are very similar to plaid, just 100 times bolder! This 1990s pattern has come back with newer styles and a fusion of contrasting colors. A great sense of style is that anyone can pull off.

With the door of 2013 closed, we are now faced with new combinations and new-old styles that in any year are timeless, and a booming fashion trend.

Stay Classy,

M&M
