The scoring of a film is what adds emotional depth and auditory connection that gives the audience an insight into the character’s feelings at any given moment. Without a great soundtrack, what would a movie be? So open your ears and your minds to the euphony of these brilliant soundtracks.

  1. Rocky IV – As Rocky faces off against his boxing foes in this action-sport crossover masterpiece, the inspirational sounds of classics like “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor keep the audiences attention and heart rate climbing with every punch. This soundtrack won the Oscar in 1985, and it wasn’t even a contest. This soundtrack was miles ahead of all the other competition. ADDDRRRIIIIAAAANNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. The Emoji Movie – This soundtrack had my emotions bouncing off the walls as the poop emoji spit straight flames. After critical acclaim at the Golden Globes, this movie unfortunately lost in a close battle to Care Bears 9: Return of the Care Bears. Many thought that the upbeat and happy rhythms of the Emoji Movie should have taken first place.
  3. The Garbage Pail Kids Movie – Although this movie has garbage in the name, the score was not trash. As these heroic young children face the trials and tribulations of young life, the soundtrack gives a depth and raw untapped emotion that hasn’t been matched since. If you want to see some kids hang out in some garbage pails, whatever a garbage pail is, then watch this movie!
  4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 – This superhero classic features some mutant turtles fighting crime to the sounds of Vanilla Ice laying down the law on his number one greatest hit of all time ever, “Ninja Raps.” How could you not love some dudes dressed as huge turtles fighting bad guys with swords and nun-chucks to the greatest rapper in history? Exactly.
  5. Felix the Cat: The Movie – This perfectly animated Stephen Spielberg super-movie is only super because of its soundtrack. As Felix does regular cat things, the soundtrack utilizes high pitch squealing to create an atmosphere of kittiness. Sensational movie. Really.
  6. Ladyhawke – Imagine a lady who turned into a hawk right in front of your face and flew away taking your breathe with her. Ladyhawke is that movie. Last night when I watched this stunning movie, I closed my eyes and let the sounds of the soaring hawk take me to places I had never been before. I can easily say I gave this movie a solid 9.997837563874382487ffhtrgfei44857342/9.997837563874382487ffhtrgfei44857342  rating.
  7. The Kid – Charlie Chaplin was a genius of move scoring and musical emotion. The way he uses the scratching of lo-fi pre-historic film quality to reach his audience truly was the beginning of an era of movie scoring. Also, the laughter his comedy produces is a beautiful sound.
