Auld Lang Netflix

Happy New Year Jetstream Journal readers! Were you thinking, New Year, new you? Or better yet, New Year, new Netflix series? Maybe you’re the type to keep your super healthy resolutions, but maybe you’re not. So what’s the harm in making realistic resolutions? My realistic resolutions include: finishing Gossip Girl, starting and finishing The Walking Dead, and watching all the available Disney animated movies.

Hopefully I’ve illuminated the reality of what the new year could bring. In case you’re looking for good, new shows to watch to complete your new resolutions, here are some shows you could start right now.

Breaking Bad is better than decent. It’s the best drama on T.V. By not already being a fan of Breaking Bad, you’re making a bad decision and you should feel bad.  The epic story of Walter White and his rise to power is wonderfully executed, while also being horrifically entertaining. As I recall, in season 2, the incident with the bathtub and acid was savory rather than sweet. Most of society has this series pegged as advocating for synthesizing meth: however, it spins a wild web of intriguing plot and character development.

Honestly, before I got into Gossip Girl I wasn’t only skeptical, I was prejudiced against it. Now, I’m deep into season 5 and there’s no turning back. Our one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite has become the one and only source of my happiness. The love shared between Chuck and Blair is inspiring. The friendships created in the series are the types of friendships we dream of. Upper East Siders may be shifty on occasion, but you have to be cruel to be kind.

If you are looking for a scarier and more twisted type of show, American Horror Story is your final destination. Horror is literally its middle name. Netflix may only carry the first season of AHS, but it’s definitely worth the watch. Be careful about what you’re getting yourself into if you watch this season because it gets a little weird further into the season. I agree when parental supervision is required.

Ready for some quirky comedy? Look no further than Arrested Development! This show has a perfect cast for the dysfunctional family they portray. The patriarch of their family is imprisoned, so Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) takes over family affairs. The whole family is absolutely crazy. The Bluth Family puts the “fun” in dysfunctional episode after episode. Never forget, there’s always money in the banana stand.

I’m sure there are plenty of other worthwhile shows on Netflix, but these are my favorites and I wanted to share them with you!
