Gift Guide on a Budget
December 1, 2017
The most wonderful time of the year can easily turn into the most stressful time of the year, all because of gifts. Determining what to get our loved ones is a hard enough task, but what if we are on a budget? That makes gift buying that much harder because we don’t want to give a low-price, worthless gift to the people we love the most.
You will have to do some research about which stores are the most reasonable around you, but some great options include Amazon, Uncommongoods, and Target. These stores offer a wide variety of products that will be perfect as gifts.
When shopping for a gift, keep in mind what each person is interested in. Getting them something that will just sit on their counter is useless and not meaningful. If you give them a present that reflects who they are, you will make the gift more personal and special to them.
Making presents used to be cute when we were kids, but is that still the case? It all depends on what you make. Of course, if you make something that requires no effort, like a button ring or paper airplane, the gift is not going to be special. However, making gifts that take a lot of work, time, and energy make people feel honored and loved. Some examples of homemade gifts that are easy and creative include pillows, ornaments, and mugs. These gifts are easy to personalize which will be appealing because you can add pictures or quotes that your loved one will adore.
Another great reasonable gift idea is a calendar. Homemade calendars that include pictures of the family every month are very thoughtful. They are full of good memories that your loved ones can reflect on and enjoy. Grandparents love gifts like these because they get to see things their families are doing each month. Putting a picture of who’s birthday it is on which day also will make them love you a little bit more.
Crafts may not be your forte, so there are a few more options for you. Although a homemade card does not seem like a lot, they are one of the most special things you can do for a person. It is the perfect opportunity to tell your loved ones how much you appreciate them and why you love them so much. We all like to hear why we are important, so cards are better gifts than you may think.
Gifts don’t always have to be a huge exciting present. They can actually be better when they are smaller and more practical. For example, if you want your loved ones to appreciate you forever, buy them some fuzzy socks. This is a wonderful gift because you can wear them every day while staying warm. Nothing beats wearing your fuzzy socks around the house on a cold day.
Another inexpensive gift idea is a memory book. Whether it be your best friend, mom, or another loved one, everybody likes to reflect on all the memories made in the past. A book filled with pictures of all those memories will make that person feel special by bringing a smile to their faces as they think about all the fun memories made. This is a gift that they can cherish forever because it will help them always remember the good times with people they shared.
Maybe you are not into going the homemade route, and you want to get inexpensive gifts from the store. If you are willing to put in time, you can find inexpensive items at stores that actually look expensive or are of good quality. You can find cute rings and other jewelry under 20 dollars at Target, Walmart and even Dollar Tree. Target also has journals, nail polish, and many other little gifts that may be perfect for your loved ones. Gifts like these make people in your life feel special, especially if you pick out things that they are interested in. This shows them that they are very special to you.
If you are still stumped on what to get your loved ones, just go the candle route. Everybody loves candles, and they will actually use them. To make your loved ones feel a little more special, pick out a scent and tell them that it reminds you of them. Just make sure it does not smell bad.
I hope that this list of inexpensive, thoughtful, and simple gift ideas helps you out during this holiday season. You won’t need to worry about going bankrupt because all the gifts cost little to no money, and you can still bring a smile to all the people in your life because how thoughtful each gift is.
Happy holidays and happy gift-shopping!
