Underrated Clubs

Air Academy High School provides its students with a plethora of clubs and activities for its students to enjoy. Many students are not fully aware of some unique clubs that exist at our school. In the shadow of clubs that appeal to larger audiences, (such as the exciting science-related clubs), these clubs spark interest.

In the cozy and warm library conference room resides Tea Club. A club dedicated to, you guessed it: tea. Due to being a non-curricular club, Tea Club receives very little advertising around the school. Joel Pixely, one of the leading members of Tea Club, believes anyone can enjoy tea and that tea club provides every kind of tea that one could desire. Joel is also in charge of putting on spectacular shows such as Scooby Doo or Spongebob for the enjoyment of all those who attend. Despite being based on the culture, Tea Club is far more interesting than England will ever be. Tea Club meets du

ring lunch on Thursdays in the library conference room. Starting November 7, they will also extend to Tuesdays as well.

Although not an entirely obscure club, Film Making club still deserves more attention. The club meets in Mrs. Mullinix’s room on Wednesdays at Kadet time. As the name suggests, the club creates all kinds of films. “Films can be animation or live action and we come up with the ideas ourselves,” says Jacob Nesbit, a member of the club. Jacob says the club is great for anyone interested in filming, directing, video editing, acting, and animating. Anyone interested in joining can talk to Mrs. Mullinix.

For those interested in the Japanese culture or for those not currently in a world language club, Japanese Club is quite obviously a viable option. Tak Nagasawa, one of the club’s leaders, emphasizes that the club focuses heavily on Japanese culture and tradition with the language having a secondary focus. Members of the club discuss Japanese history, practices, and movies. Japanese club meets in Mrs. Robson’s room on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch.

With over 40 clubs, Air Academy definitely has a club that appeals to your personal taste.
