You can’t hit the slopes without these! Skiing has improved significantly over the history of the sport. Materials, safety, shape, size, and, of course, gear have made this amazing sport what it is today. However, SIA Hot Gear has just had its 2017 showing of some of the latest gear technology has to offer. Here are a few that might improve your performance.

1. The Dragon NFX2 Goggles

We can all agree visibility can make or break a run. The company Dragon has come out with a new design: Lumalens. Lumalens technology optimizes clarity and visibility in surroundings. It helps to not only increase contrast in colors, but also your eyes with the depth perception of certain objects, allowing for less stress and fatigue on your eyes along with more time to react. However, that’s not all these goggles have to offer; lens changing is made much easier with the new Swiftlock Technology. Say for instance, the clouds come rolling in and you are just about to drop in. Suddenly, you are in a full blown snowstorm and can barely see with your Polarized sun lenses. Look no further, just flip a small lever, pop out the old and insert the new. But wait, these guys have one last trick up their sleeve, you can now see that trick with the peripheral vision these goggles allow you to use. This will help lessen the blind spots snowboarders and skiers have when cruising down the mountain. For more information visit http://www.evo.com/goggles/dragon-nfx2.aspx.

2. Seirus Heat Touch Hellfire Gloves and Mittens

There are those of us who get cold hands in 40 degrees (F) and those who can withstand temperatures as low as -10 (F). Either way, it is the worst to have to go into a lodge to warm up your hands when you could be skiing. Sure you have tried hand warmers, leather gloves, and mittens, but none seem to get those frozen fingers toasty. Look no further, because Seirus has just what you need. The Heat Touch Hellfire Gloves and Mittens are battery powered hand warmers on your hands. The battery can last up to 12 hours. The heat panel covers both your hand and all of your fingers, allowing for all around heat. The button has three settings: green- low, 12 hours, yellow-medium, 8 hours, and red high, 4  hours. The battery is rechargeable and does not require replacement.

3. Apex Snowboard Ski Boots

Apex, a company out of Boulder, Colorado, has created snowboard boots in ski boot chassis. Here is the deal, snowboard boots are probably a hundred times more comfortable than ski boots. They are warmer, softer, provide better insulation, are much easier to walk in, and allow better blood flow to your toes. Ski boots, on the other hand, are required to be hard and supportive so skiers can make those sharp turns and edge cutting maneuvers. So what better way than to combine the two? It’s simple, put on the snowboard boot, tighten it by rotating the knob. Place the boot inside the ski boot exoskeleton, and tighten it in like a normal ski boot. The boot is said to provide the same amount of support in all areas of the leg and provides an almost identical maneuverability as a regular ski boot.

With new innovations such as these, who knows what the next year, decade, or even century will bring to skiing? This is your sport, what do you have to dominate Mother Nature?
