Heart and Hustle

Air Academy Girls Volleyball team end their best season yet with the title of 2nd in State.  Hard work and determination sculpted the attitude of the team. With an overall record of 23-5, and a league record of 5-2, the Air Academy Girls Volleyball team fought their way to the finals and ended up in second place, losing to Lewis-Palmer.  Senior Captain, Gabby Jones states, “Our team motto throughout the season was, ‘Never leave the court saying you could have done more.'” The whole mentality of our team during the season and going into state was, “Heart and Hustle.” Challenges through the season were overcome by the family mentality of the team, and the perseverance to never quit, even in the toughest of games. This mindset carried the team from day one, to the 9th of November, 2013, when the girls were in the Quarter-Finals, facing their bitter rival, Cheyenne Mountain. Air Academy won in five sets, which advanced them to the Semi-Finals, against Ponderosa, which was won in three sets. The morale of Air Academy had never been higher before, considering this was the first time Air Academy Girls Volleyball had advanced to the State Finals. With this astounding support from the student body and visitors from all around, the girls put all they could out on the court, remembering their team motto, “Never leave the court saying you could have done more.” Nothing was left on the court that day. Though the girls lost their set in three, our team proudly represented the Kadet Nation, with “heart and hustle.”  The Air Academy Girls Volleyball team went out on a school-record-breaking season, which makes each and every person in the Kadet Family prouder than ever. Way to go Kadets!
