AP Classes Help Air Academy for the Better
AP classes are definitely intellectually challenging for most students, but they can help you more than you think. There are many AP courses available at Air Academy High School, including AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, and many more.
All of these courses are available to students in grades 9 through 12. AP classes allow you an opportunity to meet objectives of college level education. “Advanced Placement, or AP classes, are part of a nationwide high school program put together by the College Board. They developed 37 courses across 22 subject areas to be at college level and much more rigorous than standard high school classes.”[1] At the end of each semester, a test that costs $85 to $100 dollars is taken and if a sufficient score is made, then a college may accept it as a credit. This allows students to save thousands of dollars in college. Financial aid can be acquired if you speak to your respective teacher or your grade counselor.Mr. Flygare teaches AP English Literature and believes that, “Students that will do well in AP are well organized and keep up with homework. Both honors and regular literature are great preparation for AP. Just because a student is in honors doesn’t mean they will be good for AP, and just because you’re in regular classes doesn’t mean you’re not suitable for AP.” D20 has a “Challenge by Choice” policy that allows any child who wants to challenge themselves the opportunity.
If you are interested in taking AP courses next year, you can talk to your grade counselor and look into the different course descriptions on Naviance.com. These classes are a great way to show your ability to take on new trials, not only for money’s sake but also for personal gain.
