Room DIY’s For You
Every once in a while, we look for something different. When you are getting tired of staring at your old, boring room and need to spice it up, these cheap and simple ideas will help you renovate your space.
1. Photo Wall Hanging
This simple DIY will not only decorate your room, but will help make it more personable. All you have to do for this simple craft is print out some pictures, pick up a (wooden) stick, fish line (or any type of string), and tape or super glue. You can get all of these materials at your local craft store, such as Hobby Lobby or Michaels. You then tie the fishing line to your stick and tape your pictures to the line. Last but not least, you can hang your stick on the wall and enjoy seeing your pictures decorating your wall.
2. Wooden Box Shelf
Picking up wooden boxes from your local craft or home store will make for a perfect room decoration. All you need in addition to the wooden boxes, is Gorilla Glue, and paint to make your shelves more colorful. First, if you desire to paint your boxes, do this first. Then, take the boxes of different sizes and glue them together and to your wall so that the opening is facing out of your wall, creating a 3D effect. You now have creative wall art for a place to put your books, pencils, plants, and anything to make it more special to you.
3. Wire Board
This wire board is meant to be hung on your wall, where you can clip on anything you want onto it. This is a super cheap and a very simple DIY that will add just what your room needs! The actual wire board is called “wire PVC coated mesh” and you can choose whatever size fits you. Next, if you are wanting to add color to your wire board, choose some spray paint that you can put on. Lastly, if you desire to clip anything, such as pictures, you will need wooden pegs or bulldog clips.
4. String and Pin Art
One of the new, modern forms of DIY decor is the String and Pin Art. For this DIY, you need a wooden board (plaque), package of nails (could be more than 1 pack based on how big your want your pin art to be), hot glue gun, and string. The first step is to trace out what you are wanting to design and to outline it onto your board with the nails. Next remove your outline, only revealing your nails on the board in the shape of your design. For the last step, take your string, colorful or just one color, and begin to loop your string around the nails, blending your DIY together.
5. Tin Can Organizers
This is one of the easiest DIY’s that will add some creativity to your room. You can go pick up some tin cans at your local craft store, or better yet, just use some old tin cans from your pantry and wash them out. You can use these for bathroom purposes, like hair ties, bobby pins, etc. You can also use these as pencil holders, markers, or anything you want. To put a creative spin on the craft, you can decorate them however you want, with paint, designs, or my favorite, chalk paint.
6. Ping Pong Lights
If you are wanting to brighten up your room, but don’t want another lamp, this is the perfect DIY for you. This cute and creative decoration only demands the materials of ping pongs balls, Christmas lights (can be white or colorful), and an awl (or sharp tool to create holes). An important reminder is to have enough ping pong balls for each light on the string. First, you want to cut a mini hole into each of the balls. The next step is to place a ping pong ball over each of the lights; to make it more secure, you can run a small bead of hot glue around where the base of the light meets the ping pong ball. Once you have done this, your room will be a bit brighter with more of a creative feel.
7. Yarn Art
Along with the tin can organizers above, this yarn art is one of the cheapest and easiest DIY’s. All you need for this is yarn and a stick of your choice: wooden, metal, bar, etc. All you do for this is cut large portions of yarn and tie mini knots around your stick. Repeat this until a large portion of your stick is covered. Next, you attach your stick to the wall and you have a creative, unique piece of art hanging in your own room!
With these easy DIY’s, your room will look like something completely new! Enjoy Kadets!
