That’s right, so many Kadets live busy lives, whether that’s with sports or a job. School seems hard enough already with tests, finals, studying, and trying to squeeze in sleep! That’s why we interviewed students that go to Air Academy High School to figure out their routine and how they do it all.

Meagan Wade:

Where do you work?

I work at Zumiez.

Is it hard to balance both your school and your job?

Yes it kind of is, but I get to pick the days I want to work and the days I want off, which makes it nice because I still get to finish all my school work.

Do you enjoy your job?

Yes I do enjoy my job .

How many hours do you work a week?

I work around 15-30 hours, which seems like a lot for a high school student but it keeps me busy.

Isaiah Paxson:

Where do you work?

I work at Steak and Shake.

Is it hard to balance both your school and your job?

No, because I am very organized and know how to manage my time to get every thing done for both school and work.

How many hours do you work a week?

It really depends on the week but usually around 36 hours.

Do you work during finals week?

Yes, I do work during finals week but I usually won’t work as many hours so I have time to study.

Mia Loft: (She is a foreign exchange student from Denmark, so we asked about her previous job in her home country.)

Where did you work?

I worked at a cafe in my hometown.

Was it hard to balance both your school and your job?

Yes, it was pretty difficult for me. I didn’t have much extra time for homework and friends, but I made it work for me.

Did you enjoy your job?

I didn’t mind my job because my boss was nice and understanding.

How many hours did you work a week?

I worked about 12 hours a week at the cafe.

Did you work during finals week?

No, I requested finals week off so that I would have time to study. If I worked during finals week I would get stressed out.

Jenna Mourn:

Where do you work?

I work at Sun dance Studios.

Is it hard to balance both your school and your job?

Sometimes, but it really depends on the week and how much homework I have to complete.

Do you enjoy your job?

Yes I do enjoy my job; it is a lot of fun!

How many hours do you work a week?

Around 6 hours a week, if I had anymore I wouldn’t have time for myself and school work.

Do you work during finals week?

Yes I do work during finals week because we have half days at school so I can work more hours.

Anna Sawyer:

Where do you work?

I work at Einstein Bagels.

Is it hard to balance both your school and your job?

Sometimes, but if I ever need to work less hours, I can just ask my managers and they work with me to find hours that work, they are so understanding.

Do you enjoy your job?

Yeah I do enjoy my job, especially when we get free bagels to take home.

How many hours do you work a week?

About 10 hours a week.

Do you work during finals week?

No, I asked for that week off.

If you ever wonder how they do it, talk to student with a part time job, parents, or teachers and I am sure they could give you insight on how to balance it all out! You also have the option of asking your boss or managers if you can reduce your hours or if you can switch hours with someone else. But remember, if you have a part time job or sports along with school, the most important tip anyone could give you is make sure to stay healthy!
