6 DIY Gifts
Wondering what to get for someone? Look no further.
With Christmas coming up, I am sure that you are franticly attempting to find the perfect gift for the least amount of money. Worry no more! Here are six gifts you can make in the comfort of your own home.
1. An Artsy Mug
Supplies:
White mug
Color sharpie
Directions:
First you must decide what design you want to put on the mug. Once you have figured out your design you can either print out a stencil or freehand your drawing with your chosen sharpies.
Once you’re done drawing, let the mug dry for a few hours, preferably over night.
After you have let the mug dry, place in a 350 degree F oven for thirty minutes. Make sure you place the mug in the oven before it has heated up completely or else you run the risk of causing the mug to crack.
Finally, make sure you hand wash the mug to ensure the best end result.
2. A Painted Candle Holder
Supplies:
Tape
Glass Candle Holder
Chalk Paint
Paintbrush
Directions:
Decide what design you would like to be on the candle holder.
Tape off the section of the candle holder that you don’t want paint to get on.
You can either find a sticker or cut the design out of painter’s tape, apply that to the area of the candle holder that you want the design (Where there will be no paint).
Finally, paint your holder after you have applied all of the tape and let dry.
3. Confetti Dipped Glasses
Supplies:
Drinking glasses (You can find some cheap ones on amazon)
Acrylic paint
Paint brush
Directions:
It’s very simple… take your glass and turn it upside down.
Then, get your paintbrush and paint the bottom of the glass any design you would like. For this specific example, to make it look like confetti make small dots with your paintbrush all over the bottom of the glass.
Once you’re done painting, make sure you leave the glass in a safe area of your home and keep it upside down. Let dry for however long your paint takes.
4. Tote Bag
Supplies:
Old T-Shirt
Matching Thread
Sewing Machine (If you can’t sew by hand)
Fabric Scissors
Directions:
First, take your T-shirt and cut the sleeves off and make a U shape at the collar.
Machine sew or hand sew the bottom part with a straight line, closing the bag. There you have your own handmade tote bag.
5. Fabulously Fluffy Keychain
Supplies:
Yarn
Scissors
Hook Keychain
Directions:
Start off by coiling your yarn around your finger. When you have a big amount of yarn coiled to your finger, insert through the middle of the coil a piece of yarn about 30cm.
Take it off of your finger and make a strong knot with the extra piece of yarn.
Now you are left with loops of yarn, take you scissors and cut the loops. Make sure not to cut the extra piece of yarn that’s holding it together.
Your result will most likely look awful, so take your scissors and even out the pieces of yarn.
With the long strand of yarn, the extra piece, tie it onto a hook keychain.
6. Happiness Jar
Supplies:
Paper
Glass Jar
Directions:
If you desire, you can decorate the exterior of the jar
Write inspirational quotes on paper, fold them, and place in the jar
“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet.” I will start my introduction not with my name but with who...

I love the idea of a happiness jar! I think it would be a great gift for your family or your friends to let them know how much you love them.
