Casey Neistat, an amazing film producer and a former HBO television show creator has companies (Nike, Mercedes, and J. Crew) begging him to create television advertisements for them.  His productions reach millions of people daily. Casey Neistat isn’t a big TV or movie producer, he is just a YouTuber: one guy with a few cameras and some drones.

Neistat is different than other people because he is hyper-productive. By virtue of simply working harder and more often than others, he both increases the long run quality of his craft and the volume of content produced. Neistat does everything in his power to get the shot. He puts himself and high tech gear and cameras in danger everyday to produce the highest possible quality videos.

His office is filled with the corpses of his non functioning camera equipment, from a plethora of drones to years of broken and beat down boosted boards. He never throws away anything! Countless YouTube comments scold him for not taking care of his gear, but his defense is that he is now well off in the middle years of his life, and he doesn’t need to baby his equipment because it would hinder the production of his vlogs.

In previous vlogs, he explained how he values quality cameras. He gives the highest level of utility to the camera that can capture the best shot. For example, a $5,000 DSLR camera will get the best shot, but it is not nearly as portable or hidden as a $300 point-and-shoot camera, meaning the $300 camera would have greater utility. A $200 GoPro camera will be much more efficient at getting the shot underwater than the $5,000 camera.

Neistat does everything in his power to get the best shot. He puts himself in danger every day to produce the highest quality videos. He also endangers his high-tech gear and other cameras. Recently, Casey Neistat  made news when he hung on a rope ladder dangled from a helicopter just to get a shot with a 360-degree camera for an advertising deal with Samsung. However, he is accustomed to danger and fear. He has completed numerous incredible feats including going into a war zone in the Middle East to give US soldiers tattoos, venturing to the Devil’s Pool in Africa, slack lining over a ravine, roaming through the desolate streets of New York City during Superstorm Sandy, and summiting the tallest mountain in South America without a guide or oxygen tanks.

Casey lives by the motto: Do More. He encourages all of his fans and colleagues to follow their dreams and never let fear decide their fate.
