Winter Sports- State Hopefuls
The Kadets wrestling program is relying on returning State-qualifying athletes to lead the team into a successful season. Wrestling practices heat up early to prepare wrestlers for their upcoming season. Returning State qualifiers look not only to make it to State, but also to improve upon their past performance. Returning State qualifiers include Ben Self (weight class 195), Tyler Hanenberg (weight class 126), and Justin Petrash (Heavy weight). Among the wrestlers who went to State last year, there were also a few wrestlers that almost qualified for state. As we look forward to the season ahead, the future looks bright for these hopeful State qualifiers.
Shooting for success, the girls’ basketball program looks towards State. The team had multiple sophomores starting on varsity last season. With the team starring mostly sophomores, they played their way into the play-offs. With returning players now a year older, the team has a nice chance at State. With hard work in practices, the girls’ basketball team has improved significantly from last year.
Having splashed their way into State last year, the girls’ swimming team builds excitement for returning individual State qualifiers. With multiple State athletes last year, the team will be looking to returning State qualifiers for leadership and State appearances. State qualifiers from last season have been working hard in practice to improve on their times from last year. Returning State athletes include Kayla Knock, Ashley Dickerson, Hannah Brockie, Megan Dearden, Elena Welding, Sammy Steigerwald, and Kate Walker. With these State qualifiers from last season, and future hopeful State athletes, girls’ swimming has a promising season ahead of them.
We at the Jetstream wish all of our athletes good luck throughout the season!
