Athlete of the Month

Our male athlete of the month is Senior lacrosse player Jake Thornally. Jake is a starting attackman for the Kadets and is leading the team in both goals and assists so far this year. With 11 goals and 10 assists through three games, he is off to a blazing start. This is nothing new for Jake, as he led the team in goals last year with 47 total, and was second in assists with 32. Going into this year, Jake had recently committed to play lacrosse at the Air Force Academy, and is looking to follow up on his performance last season that earned him first team all-state honors. Jake is a captain on the team this year and is looking to go out on top to end his senior year. “We went to the state championship game my freshman year and lost,” said Jake, “It would be really nice to to get back there and win one this year.”

Our female athlete of the month is Senior lacrosse player Isabel Marbaker. Isabel is the starting goalie for the Kadets and brings lots of experience to the table because she was the starting goalie last year as well. Isabel has an outstanding save percentage of 70%, and only gives up an average of 4.8 goals per game. Isabel received an honorable mention at all-state and is looking to top that this year. When the playoffs roll around, Isabel will look to step up and take the team back to the title game. As a team captain, Isabel also looks to lead a young team that consists mostly of younger players. “Being a senior certainly gives a lot more urgency to this season, and we are looking to get back to where we were two years ago,” said Isabel.
