Hello.
It’s me.
I was wondering when the Jetstream Journal would have an article on Adele.

Adele has exploded off of the charts and into hearts of fans with her third album, 25. This hit has sold more than 800,000 copies in the UK in its first week of release. This has broken every record possible. No album has ever sold 100,000 copies in one week- 25 sold 800,307. The last record was held by Ed Sheeran for the weekly digital album which was 95,709- 25 has 252,423 album sales.  Adele also announced that she was going to go on her first tour in five years. She will travel from Belfast to Birmingham from the 29th of February to the 30th of March.

A few weeks before 25 was even released, “Hello” broke records and was turned into sensational parodies. Jimmy Fallon went all out when he featured Adele on The Tonight Show. He brought out his band The Roots to sing “Hello” with classroom instruments. Here is the link:

I mainly found this out when a kid at a restaurant up in Idaho Springs would not stop singing the song and then proudly showed me his lip syncing video (yes, in black and white). So I took it to the next level by interviewing the Kadets most apt to judge Adele’s music, the choir kids. I got three choir seniors to tell me their views on Adele’s new album. My choir gurus were Christina Herrera, Kylie Karasopoulos, and Emily Olson.

Are you sick of Adele’s Hello yet?
Kylie answered no way! Christina said that although it is overplayed Hello is still a good song. Emily agreed that it was played often but she says she wasn’t quite sick of it yet. She can’t say what she will feel in 6 months though. Emily likes Hello because “It’s a pretty dynamic song, that has nice shifts in the quality of her voice and the varying volumes of different musical effects.”

Did you buy 25?
None of the girls bought 25; however, Emily did buy Hello the day it dropped. Emily said that she had listened to every one of the new songs on 25. They all said maybe they would buy select songs later if they liked them.

What’s your favorite Adele song? Is it in the new album?
Christina’s favorite Adele song is Rolling in the Deep. Emily’s is more obscure: One and Only. Both songs are from Adele’s album 21. Clearly 21 is still a favorite album. Kylie’s favorite is the Skyfall single which is not in 21 nor in 25.

Would you go see Adele in concert?
This was a fair question but not really realistic. Christina, Emily, and Kylie were all pretty ecstatic over the idea of going to see Adele live in concert. They expressed great admiration, “She is extremely talented and sounds great live from what I can tell. It would be an amazing experience to see her in concert.”

Do you have anything else to say regarding Adele?
Emily said, “The main reason that I like Adele is the impact she has on her fans. When her music first came out, it was inspiring. In listening to her songs I realized that I truly had a deep love for music and singing.” Kylie said, “She has a really distinctive, unique voice; it’s so beautiful.”
The general consensus among the girls was that they were excited for 25; but they still had favorites in 21 and weren’t about to give those up. Adele has definitely reached far and wide with her music and fans.
