The three R’s are one of the main focal points of Air Academy’s Green Club! Green Club consists of 5-10 members, depending on the day, and they typically meet during lunch on Wednesdays. New members are always welcome!

Chloe Reindl, a senior, leads the club and takes charge of the projects and plans. Mr. Chisholm also helps lead, so if he is one of your favorite teachers that works out well too!

Green Club has done several projects throughout the year including their, “Carpooling Day”, many of you may have taken part in this effort, receiving cookies as a reward if you were a carpooler. Another thing that Green Club did was a fundraiser in February selling candy and hot cocoa for Valentine’s Day, the money from that went to more energy efficient Christmas lights for teachers, so they were definitely thinking ahead. The most recent project they had was “Earth Week”. They sold tickets in order to win prizes in a raffle. Their main focus was to draw attention to Earth Day, and how individuals can contribute to taking care of the Earth, by encouraging reducing, reusing, and recycling. The winner of the drawing was Colin Adams, who is also the leader of Chem Club at Air Academy. Chem Club is really fun too, members get to demonstrate labs and watch interesting demos, and there are also cookies at the end of meetings!

Emily Olson, a member of Green Club, says she wanted to be in the club because she and her friends wanted to contribute good things to the environment, and she has been part of Green Club most of the time for 2 years. She also adds, “ If you care about the environment and want to take action in its conservation, Green Team is a great place for you! We probably won’t be doing much for the remainder of the year, but if you’re interested, you should definitely join next year. All students are welcome!”

If you are passionate about the Earth and taking care of the environment, Green Club could be just for you!
