Having the opportunity to take college courses while in high school is one of the best headstarts to your career. District 20 and Pikes Peak Community College have worked together to bring new choices for students.
The month of February is your time to come to PPCC and experience the college and apply for the program. Go to the counseling office and ask for the application form and show the initiative to better your own future. PPCC provides plenty of classes to choose from. Taking college classes in high school is a benefit to the start of your young adulthood. The courses given in high school are designed to build you closer to your degree.
Starting a course junior year gets you to where you graduate with your associates at the end of your high school years. Finishing high school with your diploma and an associate’s degree will benefit you enormously.
One of the best parts about your journey is that D20 pays in full for your tuition. You are essentially taking college classes for free. The fact that Air Academy has this available is a massive advantage to starting your degree.
The classes offered are for just about anyone. Even if what you want to follow in your life is not offered, it is still a great achievement and ability to have two degrees. Filling in your resume with multiple degrees brings lots of attention to your application.
Students had varying perspectives on why they enjoyed the opportunity.
“It’s a great career start for me and a great way to build my skill set. It helps me set myself up for jobs and new careers. It also shows that I take the initiative to better myself and my future,” student Owen Bailey stated.
Building your future is important for many reasons.
“It’s a great opportunity to jumpstart my career from the high school environment,” sophomore Elijah Ayala commented.
I went on the field trip to experience the class options they have at PPCC. The instructors were very involved and wanted us to apply ourselves for next year.
The best part about having an opportunity like this during high school is that everyone recognizes your ambition as a student and it brings more interest.
Going to see the courses and the benefits of them really show how great of an opportunity it is. You get to build either your associate’s degree or certificates for all the classes.
The professors and instructors are highly qualified and were very involved in understanding what the student body wants. The course basics were explained greatly and the demonstrations of the courses were wonderfully done.
Overall taking the opportunity at PPCC benefits you in so many ways. You get high school credit for taking college classes and you start to build your degree at the very start of your adulthood.
Taking these classes would be a great idea to get a head start on your life to reach your long-term goals and figure out yourself and your ambitions.
