Good Things 2/15!

The Jetstream Journal proudly presents Good Things for DECA, FBLA, Theater and Aerospace classes for the 2/15 publication.

DECA and FBLA teacher and supervisor Aly Johnson noted that both clubs have made considerable academic and business accomplishments in the past weeks:

DECA Club:

  • This year, Kadet Coffee has been working on the School-Based Enterprise Certification through DECA. Air Academy’s DECA club won gold, the highest honor that DECA bestows on a school store.
  • Two students, Eliza Tripp and Hayley Payne worked tirelessly on the paper—it finished at 57 pages. They have earned spots to represent Kadet Coffee at our International Competition in Nashville, TN in April.

FBLA:

On February 13th, FBLA attended the district competition. Schools from all over Colorado gathered at the Doubletree to compete in various events that ranged from 3D Animation to Impromptu Speaking to Social Media Campaigns.  Even though snow closures across the state impacted their agenda/schedule, the Kadets showed their adaptability and resiliency and crushed the competition:

  • 27 AAHS students competed (either in person or electronically)
  • 17 of them were recognized on stage for being in the Top 5 for their event
  • 11 of them qualified for our State Competition in April
  • 100% of them won 1st Place in Friendship

Air Academy was also recognized for growing its chapter by 325% from last year:

  • Jenna Gilchrist* and Joy Kemp: 4th  Business Ethics (alternates for State)
  • Dylan Kennedy*: 3rd in Accounting I
  • Hayden Lachnidt: 1st in Banking and Financial Systems
  • David Marczin: 2nd in 3D Animation

Theater teacher Susan Manst lauded her students’ performances as well:

Some of the theater students competed in the Pikes Peak Regional One-Act Competition on February 13th and won awards:

  • Best Makeup
  • Outstanding Lead Actor: Isaac Whitaker
  • Outstanding Lead Actress: Audrey Miller
  • First Place Overall

About 35 AAHS students attended and they were so respectful, encouraging and supportive of the other schools, students and productions.

Senior Aerospace Science teacher Robert Huber also noted that two of the class’s StellarXPlorer Teams made it to National Semi-Finals.
