More for Less
When it comes to shopping for second-hand clothes, many of us don’t know a whole lot about all the options. The majority of us have heard about Goodwill and the Arc, both places that sell used clothes for low prices. Thrift shopping is a great option for those of us who are looking for good clothes at a cheaper cost. So, don’t you want to know about all the places in Colorado Springs where you can find great stuff for less?
Xs ThreadZ’s slogan states, “Recycle your closet for a new one!” At Xs ThreadZ, people of any age can bring in old clothes and sell them to get cash back or in-store credit. With a great selection of clothes for girls and guys, it’s a great place to check out, and bring your clothes to when you’re done with them. A similar store, Plato’s Closet, also gives you credit or cash back for your clothes. Sharon Hoffstetter, owner of the Plato’s Closet franchise on North Academy and Woodmen, said, “We support the community that supports us.” Sharon has worked around the world and has always had a passion for teens and looked for a business that would tie her to the teenage community. Sharon’s a believer in not only recycling and reusing, but giving back to the community. “We’re leveling the playing field.” Sharon said. Regarding her daughter’s school, Sharon said, “There are hundreds of kids who can wear $100 jeans and hundreds of kids who can’t. Our store allows kids to be judged for what’s on the inside, not by the jeans they have or by the brands on their butts.” Items sold at Plato’s Closet are a whopping 70% less than mall prices. When asked about other thrift stores in Colorado, Springs, Sharon said, “It’s a very large market. We all serve the community and are supportive of one another. I’m good friends with the owner of Xs Threadz.”
These are only a few of the stores in the Springs that sell second hand clothing. At Independent Records in downtown Colorado Springs, you can find racks of second hand clothes and accessories, and Eve’s Revolution in Old Colorado City sells a combination of new and used clothes, making it totally unique. Another great store is Garment Gal, also downtown, a consignment shop with clothes for teenagers and adults. Clothes Mentor is a Women’s Resale shop for sizes ranging from petite to maternity. Hut No.8 sells clothes for boys and girls, teens, and young adults.
Wherever you live, it’s easy to find a thrift store near you. So check it out! Shopping for clothes doesn’t have to be crazy expensive. Thrift shopping is a great experience for people of all ages. It’s one of the best ways to save money and feel great while doing it.
