On Friday, January 25, the Jetstream Journal welcomed a special visitor. Dougal Brownlie is an award-winning, nationally recognized photojournalist for the Gazette who paid us a visit in order to discuss his work, experiences and philosophy on storytelling.

Dougal presents some of his work, explaining the story behind each image.

The Jetstream crew was first exposed to Dougal’s work through his contribution to the story “Joshua’s Journey,” published by the Gazette in late December.

The article chronicled the experiences of young Joshua and his family in their battle against the child’s kidney cancer.

Dougal followed the family through this emotional turmoil, poignantly capturing the myriad of emotions associated with their journey.

The Jetstream staff was thrilled that Dougal was able to visit. Our journalists learned so much from him, realizing the value of visuals and the sheer amount of humanity they can convey.

From all of us at the Jetstream Journal, thank you, Dougal. We were truly honored to serve you pancakes!
