Thanksgiving is notorious for being one of the hardest days in the kitchen as millions of people are slaving away to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. After all that work is put into preparing a scrumptious and mouth-watering meal there is always a vegetarian who refuses to eat the meat, then receives dirty looks and is ridiculed for their choice.

To most, Thanksgiving without meat seems like an absolute robbery. However, it’s important to remember that Thanksgiving is a time for reminiscing and laughing with the people around you. It is filled with appetizing smells, jokes, political debates, family and friends. Even though it seems impossible to not dig into a turkey or sausage stuffing, it is important to try and understand the complex and different tendencies of vegetarians.

They swap traditional Thanksgiving meals to vegetarian-friendly ones. This does not mean the food will be any less enjoyable or have any less flavor, in fact, some vegetarians would argue that it is more delicious!

Sophomore Sydney Spindler stated, “Thanksgiving is no big deal to me. My family eats meat but that doesn’t mean I have to. Mashed potatoes are plenty good. Mixed and seasoned vegetables are delectable, and rolls on Thanksgiving are smackable.”

Another easily available option is tofurky, it can be filled with wild rice stuffing to create a luscious smell that floats through the air. It also is very similar to real turkey with its meat-like texture and taste.

Although it seems bizarre that vegetarians can still get completely stuffed off of tasty sides and vegetarian substitutes, it is important to dismiss their crazy preference of being meat-free and just enjoy their company.
