Rap plays a big role in young people’s lives. Many people know Drake, a notable rapper who has had many songs on Billboard Top 100. He has recently become the subject of sensational entertainment news. A rumor recently surfaced that Drake had a secret child. People are hungry for details, as they would be for gossip on anyone in the spotlight, like Kylie Jenner hiding her bump, or Kim Kardashian hiding her baby for a week.

Drake, less commonly known as Aubrey Drake Graham, recently revealed that he had a child with Sophie Brussaux. The baby boy, named Adions, had been living a secret life for quite sometime now. Here is what Drake put to music in his song “Read” about all the rumors of him and his baby.

“I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world/I was hidin’ the world from my kid/From empty souls who just wake up and look to debate/Until you starin’ at your seed, you can never relate” Drake rapped in his song “Read.” 

Drake did not tell anyone about his child till Pusha T said in his diss to Drake: “Adions is your son and he deserves more than an Adidas press run, that’s real/Love that baby, respect that girl.” That made Drake reveal the secret and told the world that he had a baby. 

To many, Drake is a role model and inspiration. As a father in the spotlight, he puts this reputation at risk. Students at AAHS seemed to have mixed feelings about Drake’s new status as a father.

Others were concerned about how Drake is always in the limelight, perhaps preventing his son from having a “normal” childhood.

“I feel like his kid will be self centered…cause he’s Drake’s kid, Drake seems all about himself,” said junior Lilly Brown.

Sophomore Dakota Kinder said, “I’m kind of interested because a pop guy is having a baby. I think the baby is gonna live a stressful life having popular parents, saying like, ‘oh your dad’s Drake and all that.'”

Students thought that it will be tough on Adions to have Drake as his dad. They felt that having a parent so high in power and popularity in the world is challenging. They raise their children to high standards at that age, that are just too high to jump and achieve. Mere infants struggle to stretch their tiny legs can’t stretch to gain the popularity of their parents.

“Drizzy” himself commented on the controversy in an interview on internet talk show “THE SHOP.”

Despite relationship difficulties with the mother and worries of the hardships of being a single father, Drake announced, “I am just really excited to be a great father.”

And as Drizzy Drake himself said “hi and bye.”
