No Boyfriend, No Problem

Single on Valentines Day? Dont worry about it

Single on Valentine’s Day? Don’t worry about it

Valentine’s Day: The most dreadful day for all the single people in the world…but it doesn’t have to be.

Every year when February rolls around, we are tortured by the hearts, chocolate, and teddy bears on display in every store. They glare at us to the point where we want to bury ourselves in our rooms and binge watch Netflix rom-coms.

Year after year, we feel sorry for ourselves that we have to spend this awful day by ourselves. What we need to realize is that there are millions of people in the same boat, and it isn’t such a bad thing to be alone.

The first reason why being single on Valentine’s Day isn’t a bad thing is you don’t have to worry about buying those expensive, cheesy gifts. A huge teddy bear for $30, or a heart shaped box of chocolate for $20, is a huge waste of money. You don’t have to worry about saving up your money just to spend it on something worthless. Staying single on Valentine’s Day will help you save so much money, and takes the stress away of finding a perfect gift.

Secondly, being single gives you an excuse to hang out with all your single friends. Having friends over makes this day a lot more bearable, especially since you can relate to how they are feeling. Stay up late, eat food, and forget about all the pressure of this “holiday”. Remember that boyfriends will come and go, but your friends will always be there for you.

Next, you need to keep in mind that Valentine’s Day is not a real holiday. It is some made up day for all the cheesy people out there. Although this might not make you feel better about being single, do you really want to be one of those people who gets crazy into Valentine’s Day? At least you have the option to completely ignore it and pretend it is just a normal day.

“I honestly hate Valentine’s Day. It’s a made up holiday that puts way too much pressure on people,” Kate Pearne says. “I’m single and will be spending Valentine’s Day with my friends, which I think is so much more fun.”

On Valentine’s Day, everybody feels pressure that they need to have somebody, no matter who it is. Why do people think being single is so bad? It is way better than finding some random person to spend the day with, then ending things right after. Being single takes away the pressure of awkward conversation with somebody you barely know. Don’t worry about scrambling to find somebody to spend this Valentine’s Day with, just enjoy the peace and happiness of you being single.

Hopefully, this helped you realize why spending Valentine’s Day alone isn’t such a bad thing. Cherish being single and remember you can still have fun on Valentine’s Day without having a boyfriend. Besides, who needs a boyfriend when you can watch Zac Efron whenever you want?
