Graduation is just around the corner, and soon, we will have to bid farewell to the class of 2017. But don’t be sad! Graduation is an exciting time for everyone because of graduation parties! There is no better way to honor seniors than with amazing food, games, and friends. These parties are a great way to cap (pun intended) the year off.  You’ve probably been flooded with Facebook notifications for invitations to graduation parties. You might be an underclassman who has never been to one of these parties. Or you could be an upperclassman who went to some last year. Regardless, Grad parties are for everyone! I interviewed some Kadets and asked them about their favorite graduation parties.

Pool Parties

Many graduating Kadets choose the Rockrimmon Pool to celebrate their achievements. A Pool party is a perfect way to start summer off with a splash! Junior Micah Wilborn says, “My favorite Grad party that I went to last year was at the Rockrimmon pool. It was at night, so it was really cool swimming under the stars. There was great food and some pretty competitive volleyball games.”  Junior Kieron Brunner also said that the most fun grad party was at a pool, “ It was my favorite because it was fun to hang out with all of my friends and soak up the sun.”

Parks

You don’t need to rent out a pool to have a great graduation party. Many Kadets have their grad parties at parks in the Rockrimmon area. There are many different activities that can be fun at a park. For example, Senior Tanner Taskerud reminisced about his favorite grad party he went to as a sophomore. “It was for my friend from cross country and he rented knocker balls. It started raining but that only made knocker balls more fun. They had cornhole, a life-sized Jenga, and frisbees. It was a perfect way to hangout with friends and have fun before finals.” Megan Manst, a senior, says that her favorite grad party was at Woodmen Valley Park. “ It was my favorite because I had a lot of friends there and we had a volleyball net set up. I think the best Grad parties are the ones that are the most simple.”

Houses

Houses are popular venues for grad parties as well. Senior Dylan Raulie said, “My favorite grad party was when I went to Cosmo Gayo’s house with a bunch of friends; we simply played volleyball and ate food. And I can honestly say that I’ve probably enjoyed that the most! I think we often don’t accredit the little things like just being with your friends and enjoying each other’s company. I am constantly reminded of this and I am incredibly grateful!” Senior Morgan Hartman also said her favorite grad party was at someone’s house. “ There was a lot of cake which is a necessity for a great grad party. The graduating senior whose house it was at rented a giant bouncy castle! It was so much fun. The best part though was just hanging out with people who I might not see again in a long time.”
There might be great activities, great cake, and even a bouncy castle, but the best part of grad parties are hanging out with friends. As Morgan pointed out, you might not see some of these seniors again for a long time. So try to go to as many grad parties this year, to honor the achievements of graduating seniors and to just have fun and hang out.
