Indoor Soccer at Soccer Haus
Finally, a place for everyone to enjoy the beautiful game! Soccer Haus is brand new indoor soccer facility with three brand new turf fields. Along with this there is the Upper Ninety Tavern where parents can hang out, grab some food and drinks, and watch the game.
Why is indoor soccer so fun? Well, first off the size of the teams, fields, and nets are much smaller than that of outdoor soccer. This gives players a better sense of meaning to their team and it is much easier to make a difference on the field. Along with this, practically anyone can play! There are leagues for everyone from coed, youth, and even adult! On top of this, there are different divisions for every league; new players don’t have to play players who have played their whole life. David Vicker, Junior at Air Academy and baseball player, played for his first time on a division 2 team: “I played goalie for the entire season and we only lost one game. Soccer is so much fun to play with a group of friends.”
As for team costs at soccer haus, each team costs $500 with an additional $120 for referee fees. This cost gradually declines as you recruit more players, which is why most teams stick to ten to eleven players, a great balance between price and play time. So go gather a group of friends and apply for a team in one of the divisions. I personally would recommend teams with unskilled players play in divisions four and three. As for competitive teams or high school teams, play in the higher divisions, one and two, for a better match up.
The fields at Soccer Haus are like none other. There are two full sized fields, and one 3v3 field. There is the red field and the blue field, literally made of red and blue turf.
Both are brand new with fresh bouncy turf. In between these two is the green 3v3 field, which is very small, with nets about 4-5 feet high/long. In the middle of all of this is the Upper Ninety Tavern which overlooks every field. They serve great food and drinks that everyone can enjoy. So go have a blast, if your son or daughter’s team is losing horribly, watch one of the Premier League games playing on the flat screens.
As for being on the field, here is what players have noticed. Indoor helps improve one’s game tremendously. Since it is such a small space it is very hard to get a break away and be successful with a goal. Possession is key in this game, each player has to do their part with such a small count of players. As Air Academy Junior Chris Peterman stated: “You can’t just run the ball through five players and hope to score on the sixth. You have to use the walls to your advantage and come up with new techniques to get past the other guy.”
As for teams, I was apart of a division two team in the high school boys league. The game is very fun when everyone has a happy attitude towards the game. We lost all but two of our games but kept showing up to have more fun. The worst part of the game, however, is when most of your team does not show up. It is incredibly hard to find guest players who are not in your division. Therefore, find players who are reliable, the ones who are so excited they are at the game 30 minutes before warm up. It is the worst playing without subs or playing a man down on the field. Worst of all is when your keeper doesn’t show up, so be prepared to throw on the gloves and attempt to save some knuckle balls, because this is indoor soccer.

Indoor soccer is a blast! My team didn’t play at Soccer Haus this season, but we will sign up there next season.
