As January 20th comes closer to date, the days count down until President-Elect Donald Trump takes office as the 45th president of the United States. The race to the oval office was one of scandal, but it seems to have been filled with more mocking jokes towards the candidates. So let us raise our glass to those jokes, and taunts, and those memes that are the result of the 2016 election season.

Ted Cruz:

The Ted Cruz is The Zodiac Killer One

When Ted Cruz continued to make his debut in his presidential campaign, the internet took no time off when recognizing the similarities that Ted Cruz shares with a police sketch of the Zodiac Killer. Cruz himself added to the humor of the meme when Jimmy Kimmel asked him about his favorite cereal, and Cruz responded “Serial Killer or cereal?”

The Trump Phone Call One
On September 23rd, Ted Cruz had announced he would no longer be in the presidential race but finally chose to endorse Trump on the campaign trail. Yet a video of him working the phones on the behalf of Trump shows a sad (and possibly embarrassed) Cruz.  The people of Twitter felt it described far too many horror films to let it go unnoticed.

Hillary Clinton:

The Hillary Vs. Bernie One

When Bernie Sanders began to make his political rise, the millennials followed him proudly, for he seemed to be the one that would help their generation the most. “Feel the Bern” Bernie Sanders was the cool grandfather they needed, and Hillary was the mom who tried way too hard to be hip.

The Chillary One

At the beginning of Hillary Clinton’s race to the oval office, she took some time to campaign in Cedar Rapids- leading to possible one of the most iconic memes of the early election season. In a Snapchat video, Hillary states, “I’m just chilling! In Ceder rapids!” Perhaps it was the strange use of enthusiasm or the awkwardly placed exclamation, but either way, Hillary earned the title of Chillary Clinton.

The Nasty Woman One

Whether all the claim in this goes to President-Elect Donald Trump himself, but in respect to the muse of the meme, Hillary can get this one. When Donald stated, “Such a nasty woman,” in regards to Clinton, the internet went wild. This is one of the few memes coming out on the positive side, for women everywhere took to this being proud to be a “nasty woman.”

Bernie Sanders:

Ouch. Even those who didn’t support Bernie though his run to the office can feel the pain in this photo.

The Running One

It seems Bernie cannot stop getting cooler! Back on the campaign trail, he is seen running off an escalator, leaving millennials to hope he is coming to their rescue.

And Last But Certainly Not Least,

Our Future President Donald Trump:

The amount of memes relating to Donald Trump is endless. His wife, his children, and even his skin tone. None the less, memes that are of a positive connotation have come arise, and on that note, I shall keep it simple, and leave it to one classic meme:

The Hair One(s)

The President-Elect’s hair is well known, most likely too well known for its own good. The man’s blonde hair has been compared to just about everything in the books. A piece of corn on the cob, a potato, the Grinch, a horse, a banana, a cat, a troll, a caterpillar, and even a dog.
