Montage Cast finishing off their last night with Dirty Little Secret by All American Rejects

The school year has just begun and Montage is falling apart! Air Academy students are helping to try to put it back together.

Montage is a student led variety show that has been an Air Academy tradition for decades and this year’s show was the epitome of talent. Over one hundred students joined together for Montage, and created exceptional song covers, dances, skits, and instrumentals.

The production began at the end of the 2015-2016 school year, when nine students were meticulously selected to direct the show. From that point, they met several times over the summer to discuss all the behind the scenes of Montage.

“The excitement was like slowly but surely riding to the very top of a roller coaster track and you are excited but you also kinda wanna get off but you stay on anyway because the endings going to be awesome,” said Nate Britton, Instrumental Director, about the time leading up to the start of Montage.

After three long months of planning, the first day of school arrives, and students gather in the auditorium awaiting one of the most exciting moments of the year.

“Having been in montage two years in a row so far, it’s been awesome getting the opportunity to play so many different parts, ranging from skits to songs to being in the band, Montage is all around an awesome experience from every part,” cast member, Micah Wilborn, excitedly states about the variety show.

Mishaps occurred a few times throughout the shows, but that only added to the irony of the show’s theme, Montage Falls Apart. However, that didn’t distract from the entertainment. Every night of the show, the audience had nothing but compliments to shower onto the group of talented individuals.

Brooke Matthews, one of the vocal directors, spoke after the last show on Saturday (September 17th), “Montage is the definition of organized chaos. It can be crazy at times, but it was so worth it.”

The class of 2017 sadly said a farewell to Montage, and now the upcoming juniors and seniors eagerly await their chance at directing and brainstorming more ideas for next year’s show.
