Most people love music, and going to see your favorite band live is one of the best ways to grow your love for a musician. Seeing an artist or a band perform live is amazing and can give new life to music that you already loved, or introduce you to new music and bands you had never heard of but that you now love. For example, I already loved Eric Hutchinson, but when I saw him live at the Fox Theater in Boulder, it only enhanced my love for his music and I experienced the raw emotion of some of his songs.

We are very lucky that we live in Colorado; we have some of the best concert venues in the country. Places such as Fiddler’s Green and, of course, Red Rocks in Morrison. Many Kadets have been to concerts in Colorado, here are some of their favorites.

Junior Maddie Hardage and Senior Anne Burn went to the ‘Panic! at the Disco’ concert in March and they both really, really loved it; they couldn’t stop talking about it for the next couple of days after it. Brendon Urie is the only remaining band member of Panic!, and his vocal range is nearly 5 octaves.

Juniors Emma Lilly, Megan Davis, and I went to a ‘Twenty One Pilots’ concert in July at Red Rocks and Emma said that it was a “really fun concert and a high-quality performance” and that it was “the best first concert experience I ever could have asked for!”

Drake is also an amazing performer. Senior Ben Lilly attended the concert in October, and he had a great time.

Of course, many other Kadets have been to concerts, but I don’t think there is enough time on Earth to get the chance to talk to them all.

Other than these great concerts, many other performers are great live. There are a few obvious top-of-the-lists, such as Freddie Mercury and Queen, Michael Jackson, Metallica, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin and Bon Jovi. Some surprising best performers are Linkin Park, Nirvana, and Deep Purple.

If you have never been to a concert, I highly recommend it. There is no experience like a concert. Sometimes, an opening act that you see can become one of your favorite bands, or you can meet some really cool new people that you otherwise wouldn’t have met. When I saw Twenty One Pilots, I was absolutely in heaven. The music was amazing and I couldn’t believe that I was in the same area as the performers. The same thing happens to a lot of people who go to concerts. “My favorite thing about going to concerts has always been looking around and thinking that there’s a lot of people in here that are very much like me, a lot of people in here I could have a full conversation with.” – Jason Isbell. Nowhere else will you find a group of people that all have something in common with you. If you have never been to a concert, it’s an experience worth having. If you have, comment below your favorite concert and where it was.
